Talli's Pedigree

CH Riverbend's California Talus (Talli)

Talli joined the family on June 3, 2007.  In just over 1 year of showing in intense California competition, she finished her Championship with 3 Majors and 2 Bests of Breed wins from the classes.  In April of 2010, she had what looked like an allergic reaction to something, with pretty severe hives.  Assuming that she had gotten stung or bitten by something, my vet prescribed Benadryl. When that didn’t seem to help, my vet gave her an injection of more Benadryl, along with an injection of Pred. The next morning she was no better, and had started to get some swelling in her legs. She spent the night at the emergency vet on IVs, and the next morning they had me take her to NC State. They ran every kind of test they could think of: tick panels, allergy tests, and a lot of things that are very cutting edge, and STILL couldn’t figure out what was going on. In the meantime, she was in a lot of pain, just touching her skin made her cry (which made me cry, of course.) They kept her on large doses of pain meds, but after another 2 days her kidneys started failing, and I couldn’t have her in pain any longer.

After a full necropsy, I NEVER got any answers as to what caused it. They didn’t believe it was an allergic reaction, even though that had been the initial diagnosis.

Rest well, my beautiful Talli-Goose.  You were SO special, both in the ring and in my heart and home.  I'll miss you, and we'll meet at the Rainbow Bridge one of these days.

(Note: I wasn't going to enter Talli for the weekend - she isn't being "Specialed," and I hadn't even decided

for sure if I was going to stay at the showgrounds all weekend.  But, I love dog shows, so I figured I'd stay.  And

since Wendy didn't have a Special entered, what the heck, I'd enter her all 4 days.  LOL!  Back-to-back Best of Breed

wins for my little brat!  How cool is THAT?)
